Initiative Groups: Academic Advising

NHS Information Session Overview

As a member, you will be expected to model the highest standards of behavior both inside and outside the classroom. This includes attending all meetings, serving as a positive leader and role model for other students, and participating actively in NHS service projects to benefit our school, community, and the world.

Four Hallmarks of NHS

Scholarship is demonstrated through academic honors and awards and by maintaining a 4.1 GPA.

Leadership involves resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills. Members have a positive influence on peers and environment. Applicants must demonstrate responsibility and initiative. Leadership involves delegating tasks to team members and working towards a goal.

Service requires someone to be dependable and for them to work well with others. Members show courtesy and respect for others and their perspectives. We also look at applicant's attitude towards service.

Character requires members to exemplify the Six Pillars of Character: respect, responsibility, fairness, trustworthiness, caring, and citizenship.
